Modules of SAP System

What are the MODULES in SAP ?

  • Modules are just part of the whole SAP system, i.e many module combines and make the whole SAP System
  • Each and every Module has its own working area, like; Material Management (MM) module is the module to plan and organize your material in a company. Sales and Distribution (SD) module is for handling sales of the final product and to control and plan the distribution of the same.
  • But that does not mean that every module works on completely separate area from every other module. NO !! any module, in some way or the other, are connected to many different modules depending upon working details.
  • Lets take an example of large to medium scale company which produces "Writing PEN" and suppose it has these four modules of SAP implemented in them, PP , MM, SD and FICO.
  • Then in many different processes MM will "talks" with FICO . like if a Invoice is to be made in MM, then there would be several postings in different accounts maintained by FICO.
  • Below graph simply shows how different modules "may" overlap depending upon the way SAP is implemented in the system.
